Amsterdam football club Ajax will ask Co Adriaanse if he is available to train its top team next season, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.

‘We have drawn up a shortlist and Adriaanse is on it,’ the club’s director Rik van den Boog tells the paper. ‘But we do not have an order of preference. Only when we have spoken to all the candidates will we have a number 1, number 2 etc.’
Adriaanse, who is known as a tough trainer, can take the Austrian title with his current club Red Bull Salzburg this weekend.
Frank Rijkaard is the people’s favourite to replace Marco van Basten who quit because the club failed to qualify for the Champions League.
