Pension fund ABP buys South Pacific
The Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization, which owns the rights to classics such as South Pacific and The Sound of Music, is about to be bought by Dutch pension fund ABP, news agency AP reports.
Imagem Music Group, a music-publishing investment fund owned by the civil service pension fund and music publishing group CP Masters, has agreed to purchase the musical-theater catalogue of Broadway giants Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, AP says.
The Wall Street Journal says the sale could bring in as much as $200m.
Last year, ABP spent nearly €160m on classical music rights, including work by Stravinsky and Benjamin Britten.
