One third of firms cut jobs, freeze pay

Just over one in three Dutch companies and organisations plan to reduce their workforce this year and one third are freezing salaries, according to research by the Hay Group quoted by news agency ANP.

The Dutch results are in line with the rest of Europe, ANP says.
Salaries are forecast to rise by 2.8% this year in international terms, but in the Netherlands the average increase will be 2%, the Hay research states.
The government is keen to encourage a pay freeze this year.
