Local property taxes differ widely

This year’s local property tax (ozb), a tax payable by property owners and based on the value of their homes, shows a marked difference in price changes, news agency ANP reports on Monday.

For example, the tax has gone down 9% in the Noord-Holland town of Zeevang, but risen 41% in Leiderdorp, near The Hague, according to Groningen University research.
On average, the tax will go up 2.9%, adding €18.50 to the annual household bill.
The cheapest average property tax – €458 – is payable in Zevenaar (Gelderland), while Blaricum (Noord Holland) tops the list with an average bill of €1,150.
