Hotel and catering trade turnover falls

The Netherlands’ hotels, bars and restaurants booked a 6.5% decline in turnover over the first three months of this year, compared with the 2008 first quarter.

Half of all hospitality outlets had a fall in sales, with the big cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague hardest hit, said sector organisation Horeca Nederland.
Hotels saw the biggest decline in sales, as tourists and business travellers stayed away.
