Holland firm on IMF, World Bank seats

The Netherlands will not give up its seats on the boards of the International Monetary Fund or World Bank, the NRC reports on Monday.

The paper says junior finance minister Jan Kees de Jager and aid minister Bert Koenders made the Dutch position very clear at parallel IMF and World Bank meetings in Washington over the past few days.
The paper says US treasury secretary Timothy Geithner wants to reduce the number of seats on the board from 24 to 20, in line with the G20 – the forum of the world’s 20 biggest economies.
The Netherlands is an important World Bank donor, Koenders said. ‘We are not going to move along so others who do nothing in terms of development aid get more say,’ Koenders was reported as saying.
