Elderly paedophile jailed for 10 yearsWednesday 29 April 2009 An 81-year-old man from Leeuwarden has been jailed for 10 years for abusing four young boys between 2004 and 2008, the Telegraaf reports. The man, who has several previous convictions will not be sent to psychiatric prison because, the judge said, there would be no point. Instead the court doubled the sentence demanded by the prosecution department. 'A fast return to society would not be desirable. Children must be protected against him,' the paper quoted the judge as saying. Earlier, a court in Den Bosch jailed a 56-year-old man for 12 years for breaking into a nine-year-old girl's bedroom at night and raping her. He too had previous convictions. © DutchNews.nl Get the DutchNews.nl newsletter in your mailbox: Click here to subscribe
IF they do indeed have "previous" convictions, why are they given such a "short" sentence? Why are they not given a longer sentence? By LB | April 29, 2009 4:12 PM I would be curious to know if they would do such a thing to an 81 year old woman? By Dane Haws | April 30, 2009 6:27 AM Place your comments: |
