Columnist Martin Bril dies of cancerThursday 23 April 2009 Martin Bril, one of the Netherlands' best known newspaper columnists and writers, has died of cancer of the oesophagus at the age of 49. Bril, who wrote for the Volkskrant newspaper and won numerous prizes during his career, was first diagnosed with cancer eight years ago.
