Anti-Islam party picks EU campaign leaderMonday 06 April 2009 MP Barry Madlener is to lead Geert Wilder's anti-Islam party PVV in this year's European election campaign. Wilders himself is 10th on the list of possible members of the European parliament but says he will not take up a seat even if elected on preference votes. 'It is important that someone in Brussels stands up for Dutch interests,' Madlener said at the weekend. 'The current Dutch MEPs think European. They do not fight for their own interests.' The main points of the PVV's European election campaign include: the abolition of the European parliament, an end to financial support for poorer EU countries, and a definite ban on Turkey joining the EU. 'Europe must not be a super state but limit itself to economic cooperation,' Madlener told the Volkskrant. 'The Netherlands pays for building roads in Portugal and Poland while our traffic jams increase. We want our money back.' What do you think about the June European parliament elections? Inexperienced party, The pvv with small letters is an group who is acting behalf of a foreign intersests and harming the European Muslims and the interests of the POWER E.U The new world order trains their USEFUL IDIOTS well with a culture of violence in the name of peace. No place for the pvv in E.U Parliament By Azeddine Lairini | April 7, 2009 11:50 AM As a Turkish expat, I strongly support Turkey-EU negotiations are stopped forever. Now one asks Turkish people if we really want to be a part of EU. Current support to EU in Turkey is around %38, so majority is against EU negotiations. We are loosing 10 billions of Euros every year because we are a part of Union of customs but not the EU itself. Let's remove them all. Travelling without a visa to EU is already a right of Turkish people according to 1960 and 73 treaties which is not running illegally. There are many court decisions in UK and Germany against that. So, I don't see any reason to be a part of this so called union which doesn't show anything united anyway.

I think the PVV's get it wrong with the EU. EU needs more political and economic integration if it needs to deal with the challenges of the 21st century. Only united Europe can address problems facing the world. Divided Europe can't represent itself in the world stage as the emerging powers, such as China, are increasing their thurst in the international arena. United Europe not just prevents the resurrection of old conflicts, but also guarantees future peace and prosperity in the continent because of its market size. Netherlands may contribute a lot for the EU, but we should not forget that its impact correlates to its contribution. Netherlands is a small country in size and population, but it is not a weak actor in international politics. It is the seat of the ICJ,ICC, Arbitration Court and the likes. What is the secret behind this? Finance and its outward looking policy.
Netherlands is an export oriented country that seeks huge markets for its economy, and access to markets depends on establishing good international relations. The EU is one area where the Country can use to pursue its national interest.
I am sure the PVV will reconsider its position with regard to the EU.
