Fewer hotel bookings in Holland
Friday 27 March 2009
The occupancy rate at Dutch hotels fell by over 4% last year, according to research by market research group Horwath HTL.
The strongest drop was recorded in the Amsterdam region, as international tourists stayed away. City hotels recorded a 7.6% drop in visitors - from 81.4% to 75.2%. The average price of a hotel room rose by just one euro to €141, Horwath said.
Some 63% of hoteliers in the capital are negative about the prospects for this year, compared with 34% across the country as a whole.
