Employers call for lower wage costs

Ministers must not only call for a general wage freeze but take steps to reduce the cost of employing staff, the staffing agency umbrella group ABU said on Monday.


More generous wage subsidies or a temporary reduction in employer wage-related premiums and taxes would also help keep people in work, ABU said.
Agency staff and people on short term contracts have been the first to lose their jobs as the recession begins to bite.
