Dutch investor accused of $349m swindle
Friday 27 March 2009
Swiss bank Credit Suisse is claiming it has been swindled out of at least $340m by Dutch millionaire Louis Reijtenbagh, according to American business magazine Forbes
Reijtenbagh, a former family doctor, is said to have made a fortune as a successful investor and is at number 42 in the Quote 500 rich list.
But Credit Suisse says he was involved in 'a brazen conspiracy' to 'cheat and deceive on an unmatched scale', Forbes reports.
Reijtenbagh's Plaza Group, together with some of his other investment companies, filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year.
