Deal reached on boosting rail staff safety

Unions and management at Dutch Rail (NS) have reached an agreement on improving the safety of staff following concern that attacks on railway officials are rising.

Two special teams are to be set up to work on security measures and special attention is to be paid to the Amsterdam Lelystad line, where there are a number of problems.
Dog patrols are to be used at Almere central station and Almere and Weesp may be designated special security zones, meaning passengers can be stopped and searched for weapons and drugs.
