Den Helder mayor agrees to quit

The controversial mayor of Den Helder, Stefan Hulman, has agreed to step down after repeated allegations that he abused his expense account and was given wrongful extra payments to cover the cost of his house in Rotterdam.


The mayor will forego any compensation for losing his job if the council decides to buy his villa in Julianadorp near Den Helder for the market price.
