Record number of cafes for sale
A record number of bars and cafes are for sale, according to sector website horecasite.nl. Currently 1,900 cafes are on the market.
Estate agent René Manten told Tuesday’s Telegraaf there are several contributing factors: new laws on slot machines, the smoking ban and a planned tax increase on alcohol. ‘There’s a limit to the number of setbacks that can be absorbed,’ he told the paper.
