Digital health records may be delayed
Thursday 22 January 2009
Health minister Ab Klink is considering delaying the introduction of digital medical records for all patients, a spokesman told the Telegraaf on Wednesday.
A delay would be logical because of changes to the system demanded by MPs earlier this week, the paper said. In particular, the IT system does not meet requirements and there are problems with guaranteeing patient privacy, the paper said.
Nevertheless, almost all MPs support the new system which is intended to make it easier for doctors, hospital and pharmacy staff to access and exchange health records.
MPs will continue their debate with Klink later on Thursday.
