Anti-Israel demos under investigation

Justice minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin is to look into what exactly was shouted during the recent anti-Israel demonstrations in the Netherlands and what the police and the public prosecution department have done about it.

A ministry spokesman told news agency ANP that incitement to violence and hate will not be tolerated but added ‘we need to find out if that is the case and to what extent’.
The Israel information centre CIDI has already said the police did not do enough to control the demonstrations. And Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb says it is intolerable that racist remarks about Jews should be shouted during demonstrations in his city.
Socialist party MPs Harry van Bommel and Sadet Karabulut are already being sued for taking part in a ‘pro-Hamas demonstration’ by the lawyer Bram Moszkowicz.
By not distancing themselves from the shouts of demonstrators they are guilty of incitement to hate, discrimination and violence, he told ANP.
