2008 was a top year for Dutch film

Dutch film productions accounted for nearly 18% of cinema visits in 2008, according to film sector figures.


In total, 23.4 million cinema tickets were sold in 2008, a 1.7% increase on 2007. Turnover was up 3% to €164.6m.
The biggest Dutch-language box office draw last year was the Dutch/Belgian children’s co-production Anubis en het Pad der 7 Zonden, which was ninth in the top 10. The war film Oorlogswinter, which was only released at the end of the year, was 10th.
The box office champion in 2008 was the James Bond film Quantum of Solace, followed by Mamma Mia and The Dark Knight.
