Honest postman sacked over fake billsFriday 12 December 2008 A postal delivery worker who warned people they were being sent fake Chamber of Commerce (KvK) bills has been sacked by his employer Sandd. The man had alerted Sandd to the fact he was being asked to deliver the fake demands but was told it was not his job to control the contents of the post. The man then put a sticker on the envelopes warning the recipients they were being conned. ‘I would do it again because of my religious beliefs,’ he told RTL news For news about the fake bills, click here

Perhaps his boss had vested interest in the fake invoice business. Perhaps hiss boss is a partner. By the way, I will be surprised if the authority or police will act upon this. They would rather turn a blind eye to avoid loads of paper work and investigation By yugtrams | December 12, 2008 4:35 PM Discraceful. It just proves that it does not pay to be honest. Can one assume that Sandd are behind the fake bills? Well. why on earth would they be so upset with this postman trying to prevent others from being fleeced? By Deep Throat | December 13, 2008 9:10 AM It is ridiculous that they fired him! Apparently Sandd doesn't care at all if the people they deliver to get conned? By Sean | December 13, 2008 9:41 AM In America, the amount of junk mail delivered by the United States post office would reforest most of Holland. Here you cannot "op-out" of junk mail, it is a source of income for the agency. Trying to stop the waste is impossible. Wish I were sitting in Utrecht now..... By Michael | December 14, 2008 2:52 AM

Is this the first recorded case in the European Union of the 21st Century of an actual (postal) messenger 'being shot'? Unlike the sacked delivery worker I don't have any religious beliefs but 'his' God should bless him for trying to do the right thing by his neighbours, and to hell with Sandd.
