Fitna banned from Euro parliament

Wednesday 17 December 2008

Geert Wilders' anti-Islam film Fitna will not be shown in the European parliament building, reports news agency ANP.

The film, which had an enthusiastic showing in Israel last week, was due to be screened on Wednesday afternoon but party leaders decided against earlier in the day.

Gerard Batten of Britain's anti European Independence Party had invited Wilders to show the film.

'This is a very sad day for freedom of expression,' Wilders told ANP. 'It shows once again the bankruptcy of the European parliament.'
