Dutch people trust each other far more than they did 25 years ago, according to research by Tilburg university, quoted in Wednesday’s Volkskrant

Almost two-thirds of people say they trust each other, compared with 44% in 1983. And 56% of people describe themselves as ‘very happy’. Twenty five years ago, the figure was 34%.
And there are no signs that society in general is becoming harder and less tolerant, researcher Paul de Graaf told the paper.
The research is part of a European project and the final report will be published next year.
