Texel to lose only sex shop

Elly Verkaik, owner of the only sex shop on the island of Texel, has been told to close her shop on December 1 because it does not fit in with the council's planning policy, says Monday's Telegraaf.

The shop has only been open for a month.

A council spokesman told the paper that anyone is allowed to open a shop and only then does the council decide if it is suitable. Verkaik said council policy is 'ridiculous' and is to appeal against the decision.
