Serious salmonella outbreak hits Holland

An antibiotic-resistant strain of the salmonella bacteria has made between 2,000 and 3,000 people ill since mid-August and resulted in around 30 people being hospitalised, the Volkskrant reports on Wednesday.

The public health institute RIVM says it is a ‘very serious outbreak’. The source of the infection has not yet been traced but could be ham, the RIVM told the Volkskrant.
