Nursing home bosses exceed own pay limit

Most directors of home help organisations and nursing homes earn more than their own agreed limit of €220,000 a year, according to junior health minister Jet Bussemaker.

Bussemaker, who bases her figures on talks with some 10 healthcare institutions, told RTL news that she would make a ‘moral appeal’ for pay cuts.
However, a spokesman told news agency ANP that the minister could do little to force institutions to reduce wages, apart from insist that any extra capital injections go on providing care, not executive bonuses.
A majority of MPs believes that healthcare managers should not earn more than the prime minister’s basic salary of €176,000.
