15,000 opt out of electronic health records

Friday 07 November 2008

Some 15,000 people have already registered their objections to the electronic storage of medical records in a central data bank which the government wants to introduce in two years time, reports ANP news agency.

The aim of the EPD is to enable doctors, hospital and pharmacy staff to access and exchange patients’ health records but some people are concerned about the system’s impact on privacy.

The deadline for objections is December 15.
