Smoking ban hits casino jobs

A number of jobs at the state owned Holland Casino group are at risk because of the ban on smoking and the economic crisis, the Telegraaf reports on Friday.

The casino chain has a workforce of 5,000.

The ban on smoking inside bars and restaurants and other places of entertainment cam into force on July 1.

For health sake, I salute the Dutch government for the ban on smoking. Keep it up and it is good for the image of Holland too!

I understand how smoking is a tough habit to kick, but the fact that some establishments have to downsize or completely close because a large number of smokers would prefer to stay in their 'cave' and smoke rather than go out is far beyond me!
