Police angry at piercing ban

Police officers should not wear earnings, other body piercings or have visible tattoos, says home affairs minister Guusje ter Horst, according to a leaked document obtained by the AD newspaper.

The minister says the new rules would strengthen the force’s neutrality. But police unions are angry, the paper says.
‘It’s much more important that we do our jobs well and that we reflect the make-up of society,’ the paper quoted one union chief as saying.
