Minister plans to up N-road speed limit

Transport minister Camiel Eurlings is planning to increase the speed limit on a number of major provincial roads (N-roads) to 100 km per hour, reports news agency ANP. The current speed limit on these roads is an 80 km per hour.

Eurlings is putting the final touches to a plan to boost mobility in the Netherlands.
According to public transport magazine OV, this plan covers the period up to 2028, when the Netherlands hopes to host the Olympic games. The transport ministry refused to comment, ANP says.
The minister also wants to widen several busy motorways from two to four lanes in both directions, while the A2 between Amsterdam and Utrecht would be expanded to five lanes.
