Thursday 14 August 2008
One in five people in the Netherlands is addicted to internet according to research firm Cendris, reports the free newspaper Spits on Thursday.
However, Keith Bakker of the addiction clinic Smith & Jones says internet addiction does not really exist. ‘People are addicted to online gambling, online shopping and online sex. Internet is only the medium,’ Bakker tells the paper.
Some 63% of those questioned said they do business and shop on-line while 75% said they use internet mainly to seek information.
