Teenagers prefer phones to food
Tuesday 15 July 2008
Almost have of Dutch teenagers and young adults would rather go a day without food than give up internet for a month or have a day without their mobile phone, according to a poll of 800 people by research company MeMo.
The research shows that electronic forms of communication are becoming more important, the Telegraaf says. One in 12 youngsters have ended a relationship using a computer messaging system and one in 18 by sending a text message, the research shows.
Almost 50% of those polled said they feel uneasy if they have not checked their mail and one third say they have gone to bed too late because they have forgotten the time while messaging friends.
