Shell pulls out of Zimbabwe

Shell is selling its 50% share in its Zimbabwe joint venture with BP to South African firm Engen Petroleum, news agency ANP reported on Friday.
Spokesman Dennis Matsane said the decision was unconnected with the political situation in Zimbabwe. βIt is a strategic decision following on from the research we did last year into the profitability of all downstream activities β the consumer end of the chain,β ANP reported him as saying.
