Shareholders call for Fortis EGM
Tuesday 01 July 2008
Shareholders lobby group VEB is calling on financial services group Fortis to hold an extraordinary shareholders meeting to explain its plans to boost solvency, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Tuesday.
Last week the VEB said it regretted the lack of communication about Fortis’ plans to boost its balance sheet by €8bn. In particular, it criticised the way CEO Jean-Paul Votron had repeatedly said nothing of the kind was on the cards.
If Fortis refuses to organise a meeting, the VEB will organise its own, director Jan Maarten Slagter told the paper.
