Police launch security camera website
Wednesday 09 July 2008
Amsterdam police have launched a website featuring security camera pictures and videos of armed robberies which they hope will lead to more arrests, the Telegraaf reports on Wednesday.
City police chief Bernard Welten says the website is one of a number of initiatives aimed at cutting the soaring robbery rate in the capital. ‘We would ask shopkeepers to hang their cameras up properly because we do need clear images,’ he says.
The project, which currently carries 17 images, meets Dutch privacy rules, the paper says.
