Finance minister Wouter Bos will on Monday hand over a formal guarantee that the Netherlands has properly spent the €1bn it received from the European farming fund last year.

In 2007, Bos was the first EU minister to give such a guarantee. This year, Sweden and Luxemburg are joining him.
The guarantee is part of efforts to get formal approval for the EU accounts which have not been signed off for the past 13 years.
