Council will not rent to prostitutes

The 51 red light district rooms bought last year by a property developer with Amsterdam city council cash will not be rented out to prostitutes, newspaper Metro reports on Wednesday.

Ronald Wiggers, director of property developer NV Stadsgoed, said it was impossible to prove that the women had become prostitutes voluntarily. Brothel owner Charles Geerts sold the property to NV Stadsgoed last year for some €25m.
