Commuters claim bus strike damages

Bus companies are receiving thousands of claims from passengers inconvenienced by the continuing bus strikes, reports the NRC on Tuesday.

Connexxion has already received 7,500 claims and Arriva 1,200.
Passenger organisations Rover and website stopdestaking.nl told the NRC there are thousands more claims to come. Rover says 3,500 claims forms have been downloaded from its site recently and stopdestaking.nl has had 50,000 forms downloaded.
The bus companies are not prepared to speculate on how much the claims will cost them. According to Arriva a clear picture will not emerge until the bus strikes end and all the claims have been dealt with.
Despite an agreement in principle between employers and trade unions, bus drivers are still on strike outside of rush hours. Both sides are still trying to negotiate a definitive solution.
