The animal protection group Dierenbescherming wants the agriculture ministry to bring in a ‘drastic improvement’ in fire safety rules and evacuation procedures at factory farms.

So far this year, 111,000 animals have been killed in factory farm fires – including 60,000 chickens in a single incident.
