Princess Mabel CEO of Mandela think tank

Princess Mabel, wife of queen Beatrix’ second son Friso, is to be the first CEO of Nelson Mandela’s think tank The Elders.

The think tank is a ‘group of eminent individuals’ who aim to ‘use their wisdom, independent leadership and experience to tackle some of the world’s toughest problems’. Members include former US president Jimmy Carter and former UN secretary general Kofi Annan.
‘My fellow Elders and I are delighted to have found such an accomplished and dynamic individual to steer the operations of our group,’ said the group’s chairman archbishop Desmond Tutu in a statement.
‘Mabel brings a strong background of work on some of the most challenging issues and a global perspective to this position, and I believe she will be instrumental in helping the Elders fulfill our mission.’
Mabel currently works for the Open Society Insitute in London and will continue to be based in the British capital.
