White Dutch kids play together

Monday 28 April 2008

Only one in 10 white Dutch children play with children of other nationalities when playing outside, according to research published today.

But over one-third of ethnic minority children play in mixed groups, says the children's play lobby group OMO.

Charity begins at home. The behaviour exhibited by children reflect exactly what they learn from the parents.

I am comfortable talking to friends from the same origin.

Children's play lobby group? What in the Sam Hill is that, and why is it needed???

RE: Cm

I absolutely disagree. While yes it does play a PART, the largest part is nothing more than natural human behavior... we naturally flock towards those that are like ourselves. Generally speaking, it has absolutely zero baring on a person's ethnicity, gender, religion or anything in between. A white child would naturally seek friendship in another white child while an oriental child would seek out a friendship with another oriental child. It goes without saying that if a child (or even adults for that matter) are not in a situation where there are other people of their "kind," they will then naturally look elsewhere for companionship. I think it's completely narrow minded to assume that a child who seeks companionship in a child of their own skin color as being some wrongdoing within the home.

Dear Lonna Brown

I have studied child psychology for more that 20 years and there is nothing called natural human behaviour ie children innocently reflect what they learn from the parents in the society.

In my contribution, I never made any mention of skin colour association or friendship. It is sad that you trying to put words into my mouth and expect me to accept. It is also reflective that your of American origin.
