The number of houses sold in the Netherlands fell by 8% in the first three months of this year, says the Dutch real estate association NVM.
'It would appear that the US credit crisis... has made the Dutch house buyer more cautious,' spokesman Ger Hukker told NOS tv. House prices rose 3.2% to an average €247,000.
According to the International Monetary Fund, Dutch houses are some 30% over-valued and should cost an average of €175,000.
