Geert Mak wins German literary prize

Author Geert Mak was awarded the annual Book Prize for European Understanding at the Leipzig Book Fair on Wednesday. The €15,000 prize is awarded to writers who have written about East-West relationships in Europe.
Mak is perhaps best known for his best-seller In Europa, an account of his journey across the continent which was first published in 2004 and is currently being televised.
