Parents fined for ‘illegal’ holidays

A total of 719 parents in The Hague were fined for taking their children out of school for extra holidays last year, the Telegraaf reports on Friday.

Parents can be fined €50 a day with a maximum of €1,500 for breaking school attendance rules.
This year, civil servants will be making extra checks in areas where they suspect people are taking early skiing holidays, the paper says.
