Foreign cars will avoid road pricing

Cars with foreign number plates will not be subject to road pricing when it is introduced in the Netherlands in 2011, newspaper De Pers reports on Monday.

Erasmus University economics professor Peter Kavelaars tells the paper there is currently no way to make foreigners pay the new tax, even though they too contribute to traffic jams.
In countries with road tolls and motorway permits, foreign drivers do have to pay their way, the paper points out.
