Brussels urged to fund Hirsi Ali’s security

A group of over 80 Euro MPs are lobbying to get the European Union to pay for former Dutch MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s security, reports ANP news service on Wednesday.

The controversial decision by the Netherlands to stop paying for Hirsi Ali’s security now that she has moved to the US created an international row last year.
The European initiative is led by French social democrat Benoît Hamon. Kathalijne Buitenweg and Joost Lagendijk (GroenLinks) are among Dutch Euro MPs who have signed the appeal.
