Ronald de Boer’s career may be over

The career of the veteran Dutch footballer Ronald de Boer (37) may be over following a recent operation on his neck.

De Boer, who currently plays for Al-Shamal in Qatar, says he will need around four months to recover from the operation.
‘The season in Qatar will be over by the time I’m fit again. And I had already decided that this would almost certainly be my last season,’ De Boer said on Wednesday evening’s sport programme Langs de Lijn.
Together with his twin brother Frank, Ronald was one of Holland’s top footballers in the 1990s. He has 67 caps for the Netherlands, scoring 13 goals in international matches, says ANP news service.
Frank de Boer stopped playing a few years ago and is now part of the trainers’ team at his (and Ronald’s) old club Ajax in Amsterdam.
