El Hema exhibition attracts 50,000 visitors

The exhibition El Hema in Amsterdam, which closed on Sunday, attracted 50,000 visitors, according to organisers Mediamatic.

‘We are a small organisation and that is a very good result for us,’ a spokesman told news service ANP.
El Hema, which opened in August, was an Arabic version of the Dutch high street store Hema, selling halal smoked sausage, Arabic chocolate letters and ‘three Palestinian shawls for the price of two’.
The exhibition was first opposed by the Hema group, but it later gave full support.
