Employers give cabinet low score
Wednesday 16 January 2008
The cabinet only merits 5.4 out of 10 for its performance so far, according to employers' organisation VNO-NCW.
Justice minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin (Christian Democrat) is top of the ratings, while finance minister Wouter Bos (Labour) is bottom.
The main issues that employers want the government to tackle are tax regulations, traffic congestion and redundancy rules and accuse ministers of being indecisive.
'Even if they do take a decision, it is usually the wrong one,' VNO-NCW chairman Bernard Wientjes told the Telegraaf.
In terms of social issues, employers say they are concerned about the high drop-out rate in vocational education, the education system in general and the lack of talented craftsmen.
