Wilders accuses cabinet of ‘political intimidation’Monday 24 December 2007 Geert Wilders, leader of the anti-immigration PVV party, accuses the cabinet of ‘pure political intimidation’ in an interview in Monday’s Volkskrant. He claims the cabinet is putting ‘unacceptable’ pressure on him to abandon his plans to make a film about the Koran. Wilders says that he will nevertheless go ahead with the film which he wants to screen at the end of January. ‘The film will cause a commotion. It’s not my intention to cause riots but some sensitive souls are easily insulted,’ Wilders tells the paper. On Friday the public prosecution department announced it will not make a decision on whether to bring charges against Wilders for comments he made in August calling for the ban of the Koran until the end of January. Scores of people have lodged complaints against the comments, reports the Volkskrant. ‘This delay is intended to out me under extra pressure not to show my film,’ Wilders tells the paper. © DutchNews.nl Get the DutchNews.nl newsletter in your mailbox: Click here to subscribe

Even if the cabinet doesn't like what Geert Wilders stands for, they do have to respect his right to free speech.
