Judges in Amsterdam will today decide if the horse chestnut tree which Anne Frank wrote about in her WWII diary can be cut down.

The borough council says the tree, which is infested with honey fungus, should be chopped down immediately because it is in danger of falling over. Tree activists and locals dispute that.
On Monday evening Amsterdam council executive Marijke Vos called on the borough to postpone the removal of the tree after last minute tests showed it was safe.
