Tighter Sunday shopping laws on cards

The cabinet is likely to clamp down on ‘abuse’ of the Sunday shopping laws, which allow shops in tourist areas to be open for more than 12 Sundays a year.


Only shops in towns which are a proper tourist draw should be allowed to open every Sunday, economic affairs minister Maria van der Hoeven says. The plan is backed by all three Christian parties in parliament plus Labour and the Socialists, ANP reports.
